Reno Sales

Post by Mr Lisle » Mon May 29, 2017 9:48 am

Today's Butte paper has a fine article on Reno Sales. Mr. Sales is the man who stepped up and made the money available to replace the pit that was Gatton Field after a huge effort failed to gain student support to build an extrodinary new stadium designed with capability to expand to 25,000 seats.
Somehow he was kicked out when "his" stadium was expanded in 1997. I believe strongly there needs to be some type of memorial or setting to remember him as the upgrades and expansion continues.

I've thought the same thing for many years now. I think there should be something for Gatton as well. I know part of the old Gatton Field gate is still there, but a nice memorial or mention at the new stadium would be nice for both men. Heck, Gatton died serving in WWI, so it's especially meaningful today that he be recognized in some small way.

I agree, provide recognition for both.

I just read the story in the Standard. They didn't mention that the Sale's had another daughter named Barbara. Barbara died in an auto accident near Sheridan.

I still call it Reno H Sales Stadium... Gatton-Sales Stadium sounds great to me...
I moved there/started watching the last year at Hawks Field...
