2018 MT High School Football - Week 8

Post by VimSince03 » Thu Oct 11, 2018 6:50 pm

Class AA

1.) Bozeman (7-0)
2.) Billings West (6-1)
3.) Helena High (5-2)
4.) Kalispell Flathead (5-2)
5.) Billings Senior (5-2)
6.) Great Falls High (4-3)
7.) Missoula Sentinel (4-3)
8.) Helena Capital (3-4)
9.) Butte (2-5)
10.) Kalispell Glacier (2-5)

Game(s) of the Week: Billings West @ Missoula Sentinel

Player(s) of the Week (#7): WR Anthony Jones (Kalispell Flathead) - 199 receiving yards on 11 catches for 5 receiving touchdowns (vs. Missoula Big Sky)

Special Note: Anthony led AA in receiving yards in 2017. However, due to a new QB with a more run-heavy approach, Jones' senior year production has gone down considerably compared to last year. But senior QB Jaden Macneil has improved as a passer every game and Macneil/Jones finally started to click against Big Sky. Jones dominated the competition and the 6'2", 210 lb. WR showed why I considered him a top prospect in the state this fall. Once the trio of QB Jaden Macneil, RB Blake Counts, and WR Anthony Jones gets rolling on offense, Flathead is one of the most dangerous offensive units in AA.

Class A

1.) Hamilton (7-0)
2.) Billings Central (7-0)
3.) Columbia Falls (6-1)
4.) Dillon (5-1)
5.) Frenchtown (6-1)
6.) Laurel (6-1)
7.) Lewistown (6-1)
8.) Whitefish (5-2)
9.) Belgrade (4-3)
10.) Corvallis (4-3)

Game(s) of the Week: Lewistown @ Billings Central; Corvallis @ Dillon; Hamilton @ Frenchtown

Player(s) of the Week (#7): QB John Waddell (Livingston) - 554 total yards of offense (311 passing/243 rushing) for 5 total touchdowns (3 passing/2 rushing) (vs. Hardin)

Special Note: John was an All-State selection last year as a junior at QB/S and he is one of the better dual threat QBs in Class A. He's also a solid basketball and track athlete and, per his twitter profile, is getting interest from Minot State for football.

Class B

1.) Fairfield (6-0)
2.) Bigfork (6-0)
3.) Roundup (6-0)
4.) Big Timber (6-0)
5.) Colstrip (6-1)
6.) Missoula Loyola (6-1)
7.) Eureka (5-2)
8.) Florence (5-2)
9.) Townsend (4-3)
10.) Huntley Project (4-2)

Game(s) of the Week: Missoula Loyola @ Bigfork; Big Timber @ Colstrip

Player(s) of the Week (#7): QB Blake Finn (Big Timber) - 243 total yards of offense (163 passing/80 rushing) for 4 total touchdowns (2 passing/2 rushing) (vs. Three Forks)

Special Note: Blake Finn is the leader of the huddle for one of the best teams in Class B. Big Timber was projected to be a Top 10 team in the preseason but currently they are undefeated in a competitive South B conference. Finn has multiple weapons (Casey Gunlikson, Orry Carroccia, Kell Schwers) to throw or handoff to and a big, senior-laden offensive line to operate the offense behind. Big Timber may not be the best team in the state but they are going to be a tough out come playoff time and Blake is a big reason why.

Class C (8-man)

1.) Drummond/Philipsburg (7-0)
2.) Fairview (7-0)
3.) Great Falls Central (7-0)
4.) Joliet (7-0)
5.) Shelby (6-0)
6.) Hobson/Moore/Judith Gap (6-1)
7.) Charlo (6-1)
8.) Circle (6-1)
9.) Centerville (6-1)
10.) Culbertson (6-1)

Game(s) of the Week: Great Falls Central @ Shelby; Circle @ Culbertson

Player(s) of the Week (#7): RB Jordan Nees (Hobson/Moore/Judith Gap) - 366 rushing yards on 33 carries for 7 touchdowns (vs. Absarokee)

Special Note: Jordan burst onto the 8-Man scene with an All-State performance in 2017 as a junior. He has been a workhorse for the Tri-City Titans as he has already rushed for 1839 yards and 30 touchdowns this fall. He piled up 381 rushing yards last week and would've been back-to-back player of the week if it wasn't for Landers Smith 400+ yard outburst in Week 6. Anyway, Jordan is about 5'8", 180 lbs. and he attended both Bobcat and Griz summer football camps. I believe his ceiling is the NAIA but the kid produces every week during the fall. He currently averages 263 rushing yards per game.

Class C (6-man)

1.) Wibaux (6-0)
2.) Grass Range/Winnett (8-0)
3.) Geraldine/Highwood (6-1)
4.) Richey/Lambert (6-1)
5.) Hot Springs (7-1)
6.) Roy/Winifred (7-0)
7.) West Yellowstone (6-1)
8.) Jordan (5-2)
9.) Westby/Grenora (5-2)
tie10.) Bridger (7-1)
tie10.) White Sulphur Springs (5-2)

Game(s) of the Week: Wibaux @ Richey/Lambert; Roy/Winifred @ Bridger

Player(s) of the Week (#7): QB Keenan Murnion (Jordan) - 4 total touchdowns (2 passing/1 rushing/1 fumble return) in Garfield County's upset win over the MonDak Thunder.

Special Note: There has been a long line of Murnion's starring on the football field over the years for the Jordan Mustangs. Keenan's 5-yard touchdown pass was the game-clincher last Friday and it came in a big spot versus a very good team.
