CMR vs. Capital this Friday

Post by TomCat88 » Mon Sep 28, 2009 7:59 pm

The Bruins host the Rustlers in an expected sellout for a battle of unbeatens.

Both teams have had great QB play.

Scevers for Capital has hit on over 75% of his passes. He was at 83% going into last Friday's game vs. Helena High. Scevers has thrown for 716 yards with 7 TDs and just one INT. CMR junior Jake Bleskin (62%) isn't as accurate, but has way more yardage 1,296, including 10 TDs against just two INTs.

Capital also has Matt Miller, who's rumored to be leaning toward Oregon of late, playing both ways and getting 15.2 yards per carry and 15.9 per reception. Josh Dirks has also had some big plays and plays both ways. Braden Peterson is third in AA with 440 rushing yards at 8.3 a pop, which is second only to Miller. The Bruins have won 26 straight to match their AA record.

Gavin Hagfors does a bulk of the running for CMR and is averaging nearly 100 per game to go along with 201 receiving yards. Jordan Harper and Greg Oswood are Bleskin's top receivers with 431 and 358 yards, respectively.

Prediction: Capital 28, CMR 27

Capital will probably win this game because they are home although CMR is for real. This is the best CMR has looked in a few years in my opinion. What i would like to see is CMR 35 Capital 21. But I think Capital wins in a shoot out.

Interesting that, according to the Gazette web site, these two didn't play each the past two seasons. It doesn't go back to 2006.

Miller's biggest impact might come on defense this week considering CMR's passing game.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers!!!!!! That will be the key to this game. Whoever holds onto the ball will win. I understand last week Helena HS had the ball inside Capitals 20 twice and fumbled it away. They score points on both those trips in the red zone and they beat Capital. That simple....hold onto the ball. Huge game, should be a fun one to watch.

I think CMR may pull this off, but it will probably only fuel the fire within the Bruins and propel them to their 4th straight championship game... either a rematch against CMR or Helena High. Should be a good one. I thought about heading up to GF to watch the Bengals play, but I think that one could be over by halftime.

Prediction.... CMR by 6.

Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

CMR has the ball late in the third. Deep in Capital territory trailing 21-12.

2:18 to play CMR timeout. One TO left.
Think it's 2nd down.

CHS just got a first down.

1:43 CMR uses last timeout.
2nd down. Unless CHS turns it over, CMR will get ball with under a minute to go.
4th down. CHS takes penalty. 22 seconds.
ON the 25. 16 seconds to get in FG range.
