Saw a tweet that Cal may be after Baldwin to be their new OC.

Taking the OC job might actually make it easier for him to become a FBS head coach.

He's gone. Listening to Presser right now on SWX.

Wow! Not sad to see him leave. He's a hell of a coach.

Sucks for EWU as it's two weeks from signing day.

Wasn't Baldwin the guy who banned Vernon Adams from using EWU facilities when VA was finishing up his degree in Cheney?

Funny how far loyalty goes when you're a coach who can better your career. I hope he enjoys Cal, which is basically the complete opposite of EWU because the Cal admissions and faculty are tightening up admission standard for athletes, while EWU wasn't exactly known for being a stickler for academics for their football players.

Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

What a ride

Hmmm. So VA bails on his team for his Sr. season (which I have no problem with), and then BB doesn't let him hang out with his old team and work out together, when EWU is playing VA's new team to open the season? You have a problem with that? I'm pretty sure VA and BB know it's all business and have a ton of mutual respect for each other.

EWU has lost a good portion of it's offensive staff, The OC and RB coach are on their way to Utah. BB and the WR coach is on their way to Cal and there's rumors that Gubrud will Transfer and follow BB to Cal. Talk about a quality football program being gutted. First I though EWU would be out of contention for 2 years, now I'm not sure they'll ever get back. Their new Coach is going to have a lot of pieces to pick up and try to put back together.,

Leading candidate replacements..

Junior Adams, former EWU assistant, now OC Western KY
AAron Best, EWU OC
Zak Hill, OC Boise State. Baldwin protege. Was his QB at Central Washington and coach QB's for Baldwin at EWU.
Jeff Schmedling, EWU OC
Jimmy Lake, Washington assistant who played at EWU

Baldwin salary at EWU was $222,000,

Was announced last night, they hired their internal guy Best. And he was the O line coach, not the OC. He literally was the only remaining offensive coach as they lost Baldwin, OC Taylor, RB coach, WR coach, and TE coach.

I assume that's his base salary? What do Choate and Stitt make in base pay...about $180,000 or thereabouts? I'm surprised that Baldwin was making that much more. Granted, he'd been there quite a bit longer than either Choate or Stitt.

You'd have to look at what Baldwin made in bonuses for it to be a fair comparison. Without knowing the APR or grades. Choate probably made close to $300,000. That also doesn't include his benefits like a car and country club membership etc.

Does Choate get "hot tub" sales commission?

I was curious about the highest paid coach in FCS and found this:
Turner Gill received a base salary of $658,492 and a total compensation package of $750,116 for the Liberty fiscal year ending June 30, 2015, according to tax documents retrieved online. Liberty’s 5th year head coach had the highest compensation package of any other FCS coach we researched. Gill’s compensation would put him 87th amongst all Division I coaches, including the FBS, according to a recent USA Today study.

Wow...that's a lot of dough for an FCS coach. I imagine Petrino will be at or near the top of the list once Idaho moves back into the FCS ranks.
